This notice explains how Farani Taylor Solicitors (“we”, “our”, “us”) collect, use and protect your personal data when you visit lawbysajj.com or engage us for legal services. We act as the data controller of the personal data we process.
Who we are
Farani Taylor Solicitors is a firm authorised and regulated by the Solicitors Regulation Authority. Sajjad Hussain is a solicitor of the Senior Courts of England & Wales practising at the firm.
What we collect
- Contact details, name, email address, phone number, postal address, when you complete our contact form or instruct us.
- Matter information, details of your legal issue, supporting documents and identification required for anti-money laundering checks.
- Website data, IP address, device and browser information, pages visited. Only collected with your consent via our cookie banner (see our cookie policy).
Why we use it
- To respond to your enquiry. Legal basis: your consent (contact form) and our legitimate interest in running the firm.
- To deliver legal services. Legal basis: performance of our retainer contract and compliance with our professional obligations.
- To meet legal and regulatory duties, including AML, SRA and tax obligations. Legal basis: legal obligation.
- To improve the website, only where you have given analytics consent. Legal basis: your consent (revocable at any time).
The eligibility checkers
Our website offers free eligibility checkers for several immigration routes, including the sponsor licence, Global Talent, UK Expansion Worker and Innovator Founder routes. When you use one, we record the answers you give (information about your organisation, your work or your plans) together with the result the tool produced and, where you arrived from a marketing campaign, the page and campaign that brought you to it. You can complete a checker and see your result without giving us any contact details at all.
- Contact details are optional. We only store your name, organisation, email address or phone number if you ask us to contact you and tick the consent box. Legal basis: your consent, which you can withdraw at any time by emailing us.
- Answers without contact details are kept so we can check and improve the accuracy of the tool. Legal basis: our legitimate interest in maintaining a reliable public resource.
- Where it is stored. Submissions are held on Supabase infrastructure located in London, United Kingdom, separate from our client case management systems.
- How long we keep it. Checker submissions are deleted 24 months after you submit them. If you go on to instruct us, the information becomes part of your matter file and the client file retention periods below apply instead.
The checkers give a general indication only. They are not legal advice and using them does not create a solicitor–client relationship.
Who we share it with
We only share your data where necessary, for example, with HMRC, HM Land Registry, UKVI, counsel, experts, AML verification providers and our professional indemnity insurers. We do not sell your data, ever.
How long we keep it
We retain client files for a minimum of six years after closure (and longer for certain matters, such as property, corporate and trust work) in line with SRA guidance and our professional indemnity requirements.
Your rights
Under UK GDPR you have the right to:
- Access the personal data we hold about you.
- Ask us to correct inaccurate data.
- Ask us to delete data we no longer need (subject to our legal and regulatory retention duties).
- Restrict or object to certain processing.
- Withdraw your consent at any time where consent is the basis.
- Complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO).
